In both The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (TOTK) and Breath of the Wild (BOTW), Ganon stands as the ultimate adversary, serving as the final boss. While the epic battles against Calamity Ganon and Demon King Ganondorf are undeniably memorable, there are notable deviations from the traditional conventions associated with The Legend of Zelda's iconic villain. Despite the grandeur of these confrontations, certain aspects from earlier titles featuring Ganon seem to be absent in these two games.

The open-world structure of BOTW and TOTK introduces a unique dynamic to the final encounters with Ganon or Ganondorf, allowing players to potentially reach these climactic moments swiftly. By overlooking immediate challenges faced by Hyrule, such as TOTK's "Regional Phenomena" quests, Link can venture straight to the Sanctum of Hyrule Castle or Gloom’s Lair, contending only with the monsters encountered en route. While this approach is notably challenging due to potential lack of Heart Containers, Stamina Vessels, or weapons, it remains a possibility. However, the older Zelda games adopted a different approach to this sequence.

Traditionally, in Zelda titles featuring Ganon or Ganondorf, Link embarks on a journey through some version of Ganon’s Castle or Tower—a foreboding dungeon laden with callbacks to previous challenges.
