Acquiring the Spellsparkler quarterstaff early in Act 1 of Baldur's Gate 3 is a rewarding endeavor, though it requires a bit of exploration. This two-handed melee weapon is designed as a special gift for a cleric of Mystra, offering d6 Bludgeoning damage with one hand and an enhanced 1d8 Bludgeoning damage with two hands—an invaluable weapon for those pursuing magic-focused builds.

The Spellsparkler boasts the unique Electric Blood ability, providing users with two Lightning Charges after casting a spell or cantrip. Additionally, the quarterstaff features the Topple action, allowing players to knock targets Prone for more accessible assaults—a capability that resets after a short rest.

To claim the Spellsparkler as your own, embark on a quest to rescue Counsellor Florrick from a raging fire. Head to Waukeen's Rest in The Risen Road, an area encountered early in Act 1 with various quests, including "Hunt the Devil," where you can meet and befriend Karlach in Baldur's Gate 3. By listening to Karlach, you can invite her to join your party. The quest involving Counsellor Florrick, titled "Rescue the Grand Duke," initiates upon arriving at Waukeen's Rest in the northeastern part of The Risen Road.

Upon reaching Waukeen's Rest, you'll find a group of Flaming Fists attempting to break down a door to rescue people from a burning building. Your first option for entry involves aiding them in breaking down the door through a Strength Check. Alternatively, have Wyll assist in breaking it down. In case of failure, resort to a basic attack against the door. Another entry point is the roof, accessible by climbing the rocks to the left and then making a strategic jump down.
